  1. The Olympic Museum is situated 
  2. in a magnificent park on the 
  3. shores of Lake Geneva.  To 
  4. maintain the harmony of the 
  5. surrounding landscape, many of 
  6. the building's five levels are 
  7. below ground.  The ecology is 
  8. also well served by the 
  9. museum's air-conditioning 
  10. system, which utilizes the 
  11. constant temperature of the 
  12. water from Lake Geneva. The 
  13. exterior surface of the museum 
  14. is made entirely of marble from 
  15. Thasos, a reminder of the origin 
  16. of the Games.

  18. Completed in 1993, the museum 
  19. serves as more than an 
  20. exhibition center.  It also 
  21. functions as an educational 
  22. organization and an international 
  23. cultural center, hosting concerts, 
  24. debates, conferences, auctions 
  25. and art exhibitions.  In 1995, the 
  26. museum was awarded the 
  27. prestigious European Museum of 
  28. the Year award.
